Look, subletting is usually a nightmare. I'm tired of seeing those desperate 'NEED PLACE 4 A MONTH PLZ' posts in my local Facebook groups. We're fixing that by keeping it local and actually checking people aren't serial killers.

So here's what we're doing: We're just getting started in Blijdorp and Rotterdam West. We're starting small because, honestly, we want to get this right. Will this work? No idea. But we're gonna find out. Be one of the first to try it.

The story of how we accidentally started a business

Last year, Isa wanted to go to Lombok for a month with her best friend but she couldn't really afford it. Her room in Blijdorp was just going to sit empty, costing her over €800 a month. She could sublet it, but those Facebook groups felt sketchy as hell plus the horror stories, and Airbnb would just turn her place into another soulless rental—and her place offered a lot more than that.

Around the same time, Ollie's family was visiting Rotterdam and needed somewhere to stay. Hotels felt impersonal and expensive. They wanted to actually experience the city, not just sleep in a corporate box or a soulless Airbnb.

So we started a WhatsApp group with our neighbors. Nothing fancy just real people helping each other out. Isa got her trip funded, Ollie's family got to stay in a real Rotterdam apartment, and everyone felt good about it. Now we're building something bigger, but keeping that same spirit.

We meet everyone for coffee first. It's our way of weeding out the folks who collect vintage mannequins. You know the type.

We do our homework. Background checks, deposits, maybe making them send a selfie with today's newspaper (kidding... or am I?).

Honestly, we just want to have coffee with interesting people. If they happen to need a place to stay, cool. We're building trust the old-fashioned way: one cup of coffee at a time.
